Cyclists travel to the start independently by bike, following the SP20 road to warm up their muscles (17 km from the central hotel); the start is given in reverse order of the rankings, alternating between the MedioGiro and GranGiro cyclists (the last in the rankings starts first). The starting order is published on the GiroSardegna (www.girosardegna.it) and Timing (www.kronoservice.com) websites: the Jury will ensure that the riders start at an appropriate distance to avoid slipstreaming. ATTENTION: The time trial roads are open to traffic, but cars are virtually non-existent, and the few intersections along the route will all be monitored. Authorized cars may follow the cyclists in the race, but the motorcyclists of the technical escort and the jury will monitor for technical irregularities.
THE ROUTE: The route is fast and flat, following isolated, well-paved, and relatively narrow country roads. After the start in the village of Olia Speciosa, near the town hall, the route immediately enters uninhabited country roads, continuing until the end of the route, which ends near the SP20. A water point is located after the finish line. Cyclists then return to the hotel, still on the SP20 (km 11 to the central hotel).
