After the experience of the (difficult) 2025 circuit, the GiroSardegna plans another circuit stage, but it’s designed to be fast and flowing, starting and finishing the section 12 km from the start/finish: the route is full of ups and downs, which will favor the formation of small groups that will then sprint to the finish! The roads will NOT be closed to traffic.
THE COURSE: The start and finish are in front of the main hotel. After the start, there are 12 km of flat terrain leading to the actual circuit, which begins when you turn off to go to the hamlet of L’Annunziata. This begins with ups and downs, with long stretches of fast descents on internal roads with little traffic, passing the refreshment point in front of the old prison of Castiadas. After completing the circuit a second time, the cyclists will retrace the initial twelve kilometers and then head to the finish line. Experience gained in 2025 suggests that it’s highly likely that the 15-minute gap between the two starts won’t prevent the strongest riders in the GranGiro from catching and overtaking the weaker riders in the MedioGiro. This won’t be a problem, and will actually be beneficial for slower riders who can hope to at least partially capitalize on the passing of the strongest riders.
