A fast, scenic seaside stage, essentially flat and with no towns to cross; it’s suitable for those looking to attempt a long breakaway. Large groups are expected to arrive at the finish line because the ups and downs along the coast and inland are too short to create large gaps.
THE ROUTE: The route starts in front of the hotel and races the first 17 km of the time trial. Then, the route turns off to cross Costa Rei (which is completely empty of tourists in April!), then the route begins along the southwest coastal road. A refreshment point is located at the panoramic viewpoint on Serpentara Island (km 38), followed by more beautiful views of Punta Molentis and Cavoli Island. The route then climbs and descends along the Villasimius ring road, leading to a short climb, before reaching the route split (km 55). The MedioGiro turns left towards Castiadas and then tackles the fast, flat terrain that, in about twenty kilometers, takes cyclists back to the finish line, where large groups of cyclists are sure to arrive.
