The Mare e Monti Association was founded in 1994 as a Sports Group aimed at practicing granfondo cycling; it immediately began to organize cycling events, first in Sardinia and then abroad.
Since its foundation, MeM has been chaired by Tonino Scarpitti, who directed the chancelleries of judicial offices for many years before dedicating himself more intensely to various Associations of social and voluntary commitment.
He has been the President of ASSOFONDO (the Association that brings together the most important Italian Granfondo organizers) for many years.
It is important to know that Mare e Monti is NOT a Travel Agency or a commercial enterprise; all collaborators are volunteers and act for free, and this is why we repeat until we are bored: “we prefer to have good participants rather than many members”!
