The Guides will be at the start of the competitive stage, near the Hotel Carlos V° in Alghero: “the Tour riders” depart at 9:15 AM, immediately after the racers.
THE RECOMMENDED ROUTE: What better way to end a “special” cycling week? Nothing better than riding the same short route as the racers, but without the pressure of the race: by now “the Tour riders” will have a week of training in their legs, so they could try riding the same route as the racers (12 km of the coastal road to Bosa, then turn left and climb all the way to Villanova Monteleone – 611 meters above sea level – before descending back to Alghero via the panoramic hairpin bends of “Scala Piccada”).… but the climb is truly tough, with many double-digit sections! But there are two easier alternatives that are just as scenic.
Simple option: ride 12 km of the coastal road to Bosa, then turn left onto the racers’ route and continue uphill until you reach the SS292, then turn left and descend to Alghero via the hairpin bends of “Scala Piccada”. (40 km – avoiding the last six km of the climb to Villanova Monteleone, round trip).
Even simpler option: take the SS292 directly and climb the panoramic hairpin bends of “Scala Piccada” until you reach the Casa Cantoniera (km. 10) and descend back to Alghero (km 20).
Whichever option you choose, it will be a worthy way to end a fantastic week!
You can enjoy a meal and lock up your bags at the hotel. At 3:00 PM in the amphitheater of the Hotel Baia di Conte, the final GiroSardegna awards ceremony will take place, and “the Tour riders” will all be called together on stage to receive a small acknowledgment of their participation in the GiroSardegna.
Tour participants will also be entered into raffles for substantial prizes, the most coveted of which will be invitations to the GiroSardegna 2028.
PLEASE NOTE: hotel rooms may be kept until 3:00 PM.
Hotel services included in the fees end with lunch on April 30, 2027.
