Cyclists make their own way to the start, following the SP20 road to warm up (17 km from the main hotel). The start is given in reverse order of the rankings, alternating between the MedioGiro and GranGiro cyclists (the last-placed MedioGiro cyclist starts first, followed by the last-placed GranGiro cyclist, and so on). The starting order is published on the GiroSardegna (www.girosardegna.it) and Timing (www.kronoservice.com) websites: the Jury will ensure that the riders start at an appropriate distance to avoid slipstreaming. Authorities will be asked to close the race course to traffic. The route is flat and follows a relatively narrow, fast, and very smooth road with few controlled intersections. Authorized cars may follow the cyclists, but the motorcyclists of the technical escort and the jury will monitor for technical irregularities.
THE ROUTE: The route is fast, flat, and follows relatively narrow roads. After the start, which is given in the town of Olia Speciosa, near the town hall, the route immediately enters uninhabited country roads, continuing until the end of the route, which ends near the SP20. After the finish, a water point is located, and cyclists then return to the hotel, again on the SP20 (11 km from the main hotel).
