CSAIn International Mediofondo Champion jersey awarding – the first male or female athlete to finish in each category on the MedioGiro route and holding a CSAIn cycling license will be declared “International Mediofondo Open Champion for the year 2026.” The jerseys will be awarded during the awards ceremony in the Colostrai Village.
A varied, beautiful, and A challenging inland route on traffic-free roads: it will certainly be one of the decisive stages of the 2026 GiroSardegna! The initial section passes through the two towns of Muravera and San Vito on the long approach to the challenging climb that leads from the Flumendosa River valley to Villasalto (753 m above sea level). Then comes a long downhill section followed by a short climb to the refreshment point, then another descent until it reaches the village of Ballao, and then another fast flat section to the finish line, just outside the town of San Vito. After the race, the cyclists return to their hotels in a relaxed atmosphere. At the daily awards ceremony, the leader’s jerseys (first man and first woman) will be awarded, along with the MagliaNera (Black Jersey) to the rider with the worst time on both routes. The awarding of the leader’s jersey and the black jersey will be repeated on all stages: the jerseys earned must be worn on the following race day.
THE ROUTE: The route starts in front of the hotel and crosses the nearby Muravera and the town of San Vito, where the Flumendosa Valley begins, are located. This road, with short tunnels and long bridges, leads to a steep climb to Villasalto. Immediately afterward, the route descends rapidly toward San Nicolò Gerrei, then briefly climbs again to the Silius junction, where the refreshment point is located (km 50). From there, the route descends gently until the short crossing of Ballao, where the Flumendosa Valley and the highway meet again. Almost immediately, the route divides (km 63): the MedioGiro continues quickly through the valley to the finish line just before the town of San Vito. After the finish, cyclists pass through San Vito and Muravera (NOT IN THE RACE) and return to their hotels.
