Fast, and made for expressing power!
Departures: starting at 8:30 AM – Refreshments: none – Deadline for arrival: none
Awards ceremony at the Hotel Carlos V°: 6:00 PM – top three overall; briefing presenting the third stage + prize drawing among those present at the briefing.
The individual time trial is an out-and-back course run entirely on the SP93: cyclists start near the village of La Corte, on Via Fausto Coppi, ride almost to the end of the road, where they turn around and return to the start, where the finish line is located.
The road has a short uphill section of about one km at the start and then continues in long straight stretches, so specialized time-trial bikes will offer a certain advantage.
A road closure of the entire route will be requested, so cars CANNOT follow the competing cyclists.
The starting order is the reverse of the general classification (the lowest-ranked riders start first and the strongest last), following the schedule set by the Jury and posted from Sunday afternoon at the briefing and on the GiroSardegna and timing websites: the Jury will make sure competitors start at appropriate intervals to avoid drafting.
STARTS – Near the village of La Corte (26 km from the Hotel Carlos V° and 22 km from the Hotel Corte Rosada). The starting ramp is at the beginning of the SP93 (on Via Fausto Coppi).
THE ROUTE: 16.00 km – total elevation gain 161 m – (Openrunner code 24938027). The route is the same for all athletes (MedioGiro and GranGiro): a short initial climb and then a steady, slight descent; this is reversed in the second part of the race. It is a course where riders can really put down power, and where time-trial bikes will provide a definite advantage.
