“La Nurra and Stintino” – A spectacle of nature!
The entire race is a continuous “Sardinian plain” in northwest Sardinia, on roads with no traffic and no villages to pass through. Of note is the passage along the famous La Pelosa Beach in Stintino, and the stage finish on the panoramic road of Capo Caccia: it will most likely be a sprint that decides the first Leaders of the GiroSardegna (the last 200 meters are uphill).
STARTING LINE-UP – Via Porto Conte (100 m from the Hotel Corte Rosada; 13 km from the Hotel Carlos V°) starting grids are formed without any precedence or preference: whoever enters the grid first starts in front, and the others behind.
THE ROUTE:118.28 km – total elevation gain 925 m – (Openrunner code: 24938023)
After about a kilometer at a controlled speed, the route follows a series of provincial roads until reaching the few houses of La Corte (km 28.50); you then join the SP93 until meeting the SP34, which leads to the Pozzo San Nicola roundabout, where the route division and the refreshment point are located (km 45.80). The GranGiro goes out and back to Stintino to enjoy the views of La Pelosa Beach and of Asinara, then, back at Pozzo San Nicola, finds the refreshment point again (km 78.20) and continues to Palmadula (km 91.80) and then, via the SP 18, 69, 55bis and 55, reaches the spectacular finish line at Capo Caccia. The race awards ceremony will be held at 6:00 PM at the Hotel Carlos V°: the Yellow Jersey will be awarded to the leaders of the men’s and women’s classifications; the White Jersey to the youngest riders and the Black Jersey to the last rider to finish the route.
