The Mare e Monti Association was founded in 1994 as a Sports Group dedicated to granfondo cycling; it immediately began organizing cycling events, first in Sardinia and later abroad as well.
Since its foundation, MeM has been chaired by Tonino Scarpitti, who for many years headed the registries of judicial offices before devoting himself more fully to various social and volunteer associations.
For many years he has been the President of ASSOFONDO (the Association that brings together the most important Italian Granfondo organizers).
It is important to know that Mare e Monti is NOT a Travel Agency nor a commercial enterprise; all our collaborators are volunteers and work free of charge, which is why we never tire of repeating: “we would rather have good participants than many registrations”!
