The first day has undergone a complete image of Gallura: its granite rocks sculpted over the centuries by wind and rain and the beautiful North Coast of the sea with unique landscapes in the world!

The first track is short with some climbing but also with long flat stretches that make it suitable for escapes from a distance. A first selection will be probably made at the first short climb in SS133, but just after the path division that begin the roughness of the day!

The prizes at 18.00 in the Conference Room of the Village La Marmorata will assign the first leader’s jersey; Delivered also the first Black Jersey to him/her who, remaining within the maximum time, arrived at the finish with the worse time. The delivery of the leaders and black jersey will be repeated in all stages. The conquered jersey must be worn in the next competition day.

THE TRACK: It starts going towards Palau with few km of “Sard plain” and the crossing of Porto Pozzo; when you turn in the SS133, a short climb will likely make a first selection. Just after the crossroads of Luogosanto there is the Feeding Station/path division (35 km). The GranGiro keep going in the SS133 in a long climb which leads into a large plateau. Cycling among centuries-old cork trees the track arrive to a short descent followed by an equally short climb until the Blue path will be re-encountered, than will lead to the finish after a beautiful panoramic descent (nice views of the Strait of Bonifacio with Corsica in the distance!) and the final 20 km of the coast that lead to the finish line in Santa Teresa Gallura.
